For Immediate Release
It is with profound sadness that Jacksboro ISD informs our community of the passing of Lasten Oliver, a cherished member of the 5th-grade class at Jacksboro Elementary School. Lasten was a bright and talented student who loved attending Jacksboro Elementary and touched so many of his classmates and teachers with his kindness and enthusiasm for learning.
Our hearts go out to Lasten’s family, friends, and all those affected by this tragedy. Lasten’s mother, Tiffany VanBlarcum, is a paraprofessional at Jacksboro High School. The loss of one of our students is a deeply painful moment for our entire school community.
In this time of sorrow, we are focused on supporting our students, staff, and families. Counselors and additional support resources will be available at Jacksboro Elementary School when classes resume on Monday, November 18 for anyone who needs assistance coping with this loss. We encourage our students and staff to reach out if they need help or know someone who might benefit from support.
Out of respect for the family’s privacy, we ask that specific details surrounding Lasten’s passing remain private at this time.
We are committed to coming together as a community to honor Lasten’s memory and provide comfort and care for all grieving people.
Please join us in praying for Lasten Oliver’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Brad Burnett
Superintendent
Jacksboro ISD
