According to the Brookings Institute, a decade of studies on private school subsidies shows they actually hurt student achievement. Public tax dollars should be used to advance a public good, like improving student achievement.

Vouchers do not improve student achievement.
Without elected boards or state oversight, vouchers are nothing more than private school subsidies that give away your tax dollars with no financial or academic accountability.

Private schools are not held to the same financial or academic accountability.
It is National Principals Month and we have some of the best at JISD. Thank you Rebecca Sell, JES Assistant Principal for all you do for JES.

Vouchers are about private school's choice, not student school choice. Public schools are proud to serve all the students in our boundaries.

Vouichers are Private School choice not parent choice.

"In the Educational Opportunity & Enrichment Select House Committee, the executive director of the Texas Catholic Conference of Bishops testified that there is often times no bump in Catholic school enrollment that occurs after the implementation of a school choice program. Vouchers don't provide more opportunities to families, it uses taxpayer dollars to subsidize a decision that they were already going to make. Public schools educate more than 90% of students in Texas. Those students deserve full funding for their schools before any discussion of diverting taxpayer money for private school subsidies."
