Spotlight on Technology
Jacksboro ISD prides itself in providing the latest technology and resources to enhance the learning experience and provide 21st Century Learning. Many teachers are producing excellent lessons using technology. This section provides teachers a way to "showcase" the technology they are using in their classroom and also allows viewers to see what our students are being exposed to as we prepare them for the future.

Spotlight on Technology Projects
Beowulf English 4 Teacher: Jane Ann Rhoten
Students read the epic Beowulf in class; upon completion of the assigned reading, students divided into groups and chose scenes to re-create. I, along with my students, used the iPad to video, narrate, and edit the work before combining the scenes to make a complete "movie" of the students' innovative creations. Through the use of Thinking Maps, classes organized and prepared before completion of the project. Please enjoy this "masterpiece" as presented through the eyes of my senior English classes. Please note the credits at the end of the movie as we were careful to avoid plagiarism. Watch the video by clicking on the link below.
Newton's Laws Physics Teacher: Don Sewell
Each physics class was divided into groups and each group chose one of Newton's Laws to present. Each group developed a plan to produce a video using an iPad. The groups had to list the resources that they were going to use and they also had to write a script to use in the production. This was done by using "Notes" app on the iPad.
After the video task was completed, the students had to edit the video. Some used "VidEditorFree" and others used "ShowMe".
Each group then presented the video presentation to the class by using AirPlay. The content had to be factual and it had to support/explain the Law chosen.
When this was completed, all had a better understanding of Newton's Laws.
Daily News Tech Apps Teacher: Lishia Whitworth
Each day the students come in and get out an iPad. They search for news articles and mirror the iPad with the Whiteboard and give a brief synopsis of their article to the class.
Toontastic G/T Teacher: Becky Fudge
Becky Fudge's GT kids are using an application on my IPAD called Toontastic to create their own animated cartoons with sound. After their cartoons are completed they will teach the other students in the class how to create the cartoon. They also use the Apple TV to mirror on the image on the screen show the cartoons to the class.
ThatQuiz.org 6th Grade Math Teacher: Kristi Daws
Mrs. Daws is using technology and the iPad in her classroom to enhance the learning of her math students by incorporating various iPad applications. She has the apps posted on her bulletin board for the students to see as a reminder of the tools available. She also uses thatquiz.org to allow her to give students assistance with math problems. This website allows her to manipulate the problems to help the students with problem areas. The quizzes are linked from her teacher web page to allow for easy access anywhere.
iPad Classroom Use Theatre Arts Teacher: Donna Fenter
Students have used their iPads in Theatre Arts almost non-stop since receiving them. They have downloaded free Audio Editor Apps, as well as movie apps to use as sound bites in their own short films. They have learned to edit sound to the point to where they can layer instruments and recordings, as well as cut, loop, and even add their own live music to the applications and enhance it as well. Here, students are shown taking class notes on their iPads. In the coming six weeks, we will explore using the app Stageright and Google Sketchup for use inStage and Theatrical Design.
